Before you order
At GWP 3,922 this is the highest-impact product we list. It is being phased down under the AIM Act, and new equipment is moving to lower-GWP alternatives such as R-448A and R-449A.
We stock it because a large installed base still runs on it and shutting those systems down is not a service option. Plan replacements, but keep the box cold in the meantime.
Safe handling
- Verify the equipment nameplate specifies R-404A and note the approved charge before connecting.
- This system requires POE (polyol ester). Mixing incompatible lubricants causes compressor failure.
- Charge in the liquid phase only — vapour charging shifts the composition of a blend.
- Use gauges, hoses and recovery equipment rated for this refrigerant’s operating pressures.
- Store upright and secured, in a cool, dry, ventilated area away from heat, sparks and open flame.
- Recover refrigerant — knowingly venting is a violation of Clean Air Act Section 608.
Shipping
Service cylinder. Subject to AIM Act HFC phasedown. Allocation-limited — availability can move without notice. Follow the cylinder label, safety data sheet and equipment manufacturer instructions.
